U.S. Tensions with Iran Heat Up

Over the past month already shaky US-Iran relations have worsened considerably. First, on Sept. 26 the Senate approved a resolution labeling the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (the largest part of Iran’s military) as terrorists. This not only allows the President to take more aggressive action against them, but prohibits negotiations. Hillary Clinton has taken a lot of criticism for voting for this measure. Furthermore, President Bush criticized Russia’s President Putin refusal to accept force as an option to stop Iran’s nuclear energy program. Later, on Oct. 17 Bush stated that Iranian nuclear capabilities could lead to World War III. Most recently, Iran declared the CIA and the US army as terrorist organizations.
